Pour chaque photo que vous prenez, que ce soit avec un appareil photo, un téléphone ou une tablette, une foule d'informations sur la photo sont enregistrées. On appelle ces informations EXIF (EXchangeable Image File format).
Les informations EXIF disponibles varieront selon le type d'appareil utilisé. Parmi les informations que vous pourriez retrouver, notons :

Si vous désirez connaître toutes les informations EXIF sur une photo, vous pouvez utiliser le petit script ExifTool. Il s'utilise en ligne de commande et offre une liste complète des informations EXIF enregistrées.
J'aime bien l'utiliser notamment pour retrouver la date exacte de la prise de vue puisque lorsque je télécharge les images prises avec mon iPhone, le Finder ne me montre que la date du téléchargement (date de création), de la dernière ouverture ou de la dernière modification.
Pourtant, la date de la prise de vue est bel et bien enregistrée dans les données EXIF de la photo, sous (voir dans le résultat à l'écran plus bas).
